Thanks for submitting!

The teacher:

Miriam has regularly been teaching theater workshops for children for more than a decade, mostly for the popular family theater Theater Arlecchino.

However, her experience as a theater pedaguge also includes teaching workshops for young adults and teenagers as well as Acting workshops for the Basel English Panto Group. Also, she directed full plays for the Olten based theater group Theater zum Kilometer Null.

Her specialty is her focus on the physical aspect of acting: She loves to help explore the boundaries of  expression in our bodies and to further physical  confidence and awareness. Her goal in her work as a teacher is to provide a space for experimentation, exploration and creative fun!

Workshops for Adults

With our workshops for adults we aim to provide a safe and fun place for exploration, expression and the growth of creativity and artistic skills.

MOVE LIKE A BIRD, WHISPER LIKE THE WIND

Physical Acting & Devising Workshop
Wednesdays September 1, 8, 15, 22 2022 @ 19.00 - 21.30

Workshop in German and English led by Miriam Cohn for adults (ages 16+)

In this fun workshop we will explore our acting and devising skills by creating theater scenes based on chapters from a novel.

The novel we will use is “The Story Left Behind” by Andrés Ibañez. This is a fantastic story of a prince on a quest for his soul in a world where insects hold power over people by subtle manipulations of their thoughts and feelings. Most importantly, the story provides powerful images, whimsical characters, and humorous interactions – in short, a lot of material for a theatrical adaptation.

As this is a process-based workshop, we will work on a few of these scenes and try out different approaches to turn them into theatre scenes. Our work will include dialogue, character work and storytelling through physical theatre.

Every session will start with a warm-up that will support our scene work.

This workshop could also be interesting for people who would like to direct a play as it addresses questions on how to create images and atmospheres by mostly relying on the actors and their acting alone.

This is an in progress-workshop of four evenings. We encourage you to participate at all four evenings to support continuity. Also, is a possibility that this workshop could be continued further if the group would like to do so.
